Yes, that yould have been an option. I thought about that as well afterwards (it was to late anyway to change this, the session was over). At the same time, I am wondering if this would not have killed the delicacy of the reflection on the hair which are framing the face, by creating another external distracting frame. As I cannot compare with another version, I still do not have the answer to this.

In my opinion, just a little light on the hair would not detract from the hair framing the model's face. Just enough light to define the shape of her head and shoulders. The main light is on her face, so no, it would not hurt your concept.
