Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
This is only my second set of portraits I've ever done (mostly a landscape and car show kinda guy) but I think these are leaps and bounds better than my first portrait attempt. Learning new things as I go and getting lots of help from members on here. Thanks guys! :)

The rest can be seen on my website under the "portraits" tab...

Direct sunlight makes for too harsh of lighting for really standout portraits. Buy a reflecter. I found my 36" for $8 on eBay. It has the gold, silver, and white sleeves.

^^Do that.

Look at some other ways that photographers have their models pose - this feels awkward to me. Also, harsh lighting in the first one. Hair seems awkward in the second.

Cool thanks for the tips guys, I'll check into some of those reflectors. The posing was definitely an issue for me, I felt totally out of my element telling her what to do LOL. Most of my subjects (Cars and Landscapes) never need to be told what to do!

Alright... well now that I know lighting and poses need work, any other areas anyone feels like commenting on? :)

This was just natural light, yes?

Yes... tried going for magic hour, and I swear it wasn't that bright when we took these and my exposure was "right on"... seems to always tell a different story once up open them up at home LOL

If you can try to bring a few reflectors or flashes, reflectors can be made really cheap and easy with some light weight foam and a reflective material.

What lens were you using?? Wide Angle??? #3, her nose is HUGE! Looks like a Jimmy Durante joke (yea.. I know, I am dating myself!) :)

You're gonna feel like a dick when he says he took these with a 50mm :P
