C&C - New to Portraits...

What lens were you using?? Wide Angle??? #3, her nose is HUGE! Looks like a Jimmy Durante joke (yea.. I know, I am dating myself!) :)

You're gonna feel like a dick when he says he took these with a 50mm :P

Maybe! :) but you have to admit that the nose in #3 is much larger than the other two! Or am I on drugs? lol!

YES! But which side of that lens? If you used the 18mm to 35mm side, you could easily get WA distortion (which would explain her nose). No Exif data in the photo... so I can't tell! :)

Try to get in some shade, she is squinting hard and the shadows like others have said ruin a portrait. I would also have her pull her hair over, the 1 eye look doesn't do it for me. Good job getting out there and trying though, that's the first step. Composition isn't horrible on any of them.

Guess I should start using another hosting site... used to use imageshack but they make it a pain to post a "direct link" with the image code... you always have to log in to do so. Apparently tinypic doesn't provide the Exif data. Sorry bout that...

FLICKR!

can the harsh light be fixed with photo editing? i am a newbie too and i took a few pics in direct sunlight.

first and 2nd shot i would have cropped in more for a tighter shot..
last shot isnt terrible but the braces are kinda distracting and the hard shadow on the camera right of her nose makes it look bigger than it should be.. to correct that put a reflector on that side where the shadow is.. or have the subject angle their head around to the light more..

other than that def good work for starting out!
