Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
There are quite a few images I'm thinking of tossing to free up space on my 2TB drive, that only has 20GB of space left. Most are no brainers, but some I thought of editing more than I normally would consider doing to either enhance or just pull something out of my hat. This image is family so I may not toss it based on that alone. But I didn't care too much for this shot and I am curious as what others may thing of the post processing... Partly done in order to take some attention off the cars in the BG. Does it help? Or not? If so, then I might take my saved workflow and apply this edit style to more of the images taken at this location.

Anyways, here is the before and after.

P.S. I know many folks here may be minimalists when it comes to post processing, as I am, but please keep in mind that most of this can be done with lens filters...

Am I supposed to like what your filter did to that shot?
Why not just take a better shot?

Wow, this is why I normally go to other sites with professionals. If you would have read what I said, this is just a family shot anyway. Admittedly, next to the original it may not look as good. Standing on it's own however it very closely resembles what I and many accomplish with lens filters, minus the eye brightening. It's not a matter of taking a better picture, because I have better pictures. this has more to do with the PP.

And no you are not suppose to like what the PP (Not filter) did to the shot, as everyone has their own tastes. This child's mother absolutely loves what it brought to this shot. THe shot itself is just a random shot from a lot of shots that I was planning on tossing. What I asked was....
...I am curious as what others may thing (meant think) of the post processing...
. Basically I was hoping someone, other than my self because I am biased, who has experience with lens filtering also agreed that this came close to what the actual filter would produce or maybe not. The reason for my query is that I seldom do any PP on photos other than formatting for print.

Why not just buy another 2tb?
Simply because this is my third one already, (I have different HD's for different purposes) and I don't have the outlet space for another HD, without becoming unsafe. I have freed up roughly 350GB since my first post. Thanks heavily to deleting a few videos.

For what it's worth, I don't think processing helped at all. The background still commands more attention than the subject.

Get a USB hub.

What's with everyone getting so butthurt lately?

Why do people post crappy shots(shots that they admit aren't good) to "try out" filters or PP??? You can't polish a turd. Why not plan a shot with a certain PP technique in mind and go with that??

Even shots that are not technically "good" can get a discussion going about the particular topic (in this case, post processing). No reason why people (like you) need to get all butthurt about people posting "crappy shots". Sometimes you can't go back and re-shoot something.

I dont give a north end of a southbound rat what people post. What I'm saying is how can you expect a heavy PP technique to work if it wasn't intended for the image in the first place? It's like slapping a bumper sticker on a beater car and calling refinished. Where's the C&C value in that? If you can't reshoot then it probably wasn't meant to be, go try another time.

To the OP, I've noticed the same thing you have, most folks on here are rude and dont really offer any real advice. There's a difference in offering constructive advice to better your shots and just plain being a dick. Funny how most of the "pros" on here seem to for some reason have nothing good to post themselves. You can read all you want and know everything there is to know about photography, doesnt make you a professional. Bashing someones shots in the "beginners" forum of all places when 99% of posters here are beginners anyway is the good old pot calling the kettle black. I guess what can you expect from a bunch of nerds and old hags though, seems to be the general population.

The thing is, there actually is a lot of good advice given. Sometimes you have to have a little prior knowledge to understand what's being said & read between the lines. Had some posters actually done a little prior research instead of waiting to be spoon-fed they would see this.

Very true, there is some good reading and advice covered in other threads. Seem pointless to post a negative comment though without posting some advice on how to better the shot. People arent interested in hearing "your shots are crap" they are interested in hearing exactly whats wrong with the shot and how to improve it. This is afterall the section for beginners, just seems like folks would be a little more nice. I always like to encourage people to get into the hobby, not act like I know everything and drive them away. If folks are to scared to ask, that sort of defeats the purpose of the forum.

Speaking of pots and kettles...it seems you are getting great joy in repeatly posting your rants including name calling and childish insults. I haven't seen any of this valuable critique you keep talking about, come from you.
