A dear friend often who passed had a thing for Taylor for Taylor guitars --- so I Lind the first better. Dirty I do t have a more educated reason! :)

They seem underexposed, and I'm not a big fan of the color treatment.

Love the composition of the first one. I agree it may be a bit underexposed

I like the first one, though...

1. I think this has been sorta done to death.
2. I think the neck being positioned very central to the frame vertically seems somewhat dull... more of an angle would have probably been cooler.
3. It's a little tight cropped on the right side. I wish it had a little more room.

I like the mood of the lighting and think the exposure is fine. It has a great feel to it.

I like the first one. The wb on the second one seems off. As far as the first being underexposed. I think the whole overexposed/underexposed thing is personal preference. Some people like them a little on the dark side and vice versa.

It's not just a preference, it's an artistic choice. It's only under or overexposed if it is a matter of error. If it is a matter of choice, then it is exposed exactly as it was intended to be and should therefore not be up for discussion at all.

This is a big problem with forums like this... "It's overexposed!" "It's underexposed!" "It's tilted!" "It doesn't follow the rule of thirds!" People get WAY too tied up in these little elements that they come to think are rules that must always be followed, when in truth they are more things that must be understood.

Like in this image... there is an absolutely undeniable mood portrayed by the darkness of this image. If it was intentional, then the mood is likely also intended, and it has a real impact to it. Bringing it up would totally shatter that, which would be a real shame.

#1 is my favorite, i just wish the price tag wasnt in the photo :( But beside that i actually really do like the darkness of the picture & the angle :)

Thank you for not using an ultra shallow DoF.

But, the vignetting seems to heavy.

White Balance seems off.

omg I swear I really need to stop coming here...

PEOPLE... these pictures are artfully done.

PLEASE take 10 seconds to see through the stupid mechanical goggles you all have glued to your face and see what the choices in WB and other such things do to the overall effect of the image.

I understand what he was going for with his choice of color but, artful or not, they just don't do it for me. Number one is too dark and has so many different elements that it seems busy. Number two has such a heavy vignette. The call for attention to he guitars seems fabricated, forced.

"Not doing it FOR YOU" is a matter of TASTE and should be expressed as such.

What you happen to like or not like is COMPLETELY different from whether or not someone has effectively rendered an artistic interpretation or not.

VERY

BIG

DIFFERENCE.

When the White Balance is off then it's off. Why you trying to argue with it?

I'm a bit afraid to post CC since it happens to be based off personal opinion and clearly that makes someone a little too upset, but...eat it harvey.

#1 is nice, the color is nice, set up etc, I wish the price tag wasn't hanging off the guitar and you could see at least a hint of the players face. You could play with the angle a little more as well (you may have) to see what gives a more visual interesting image.

#2 I'm not exactly sure where to look, or where you as the photographer wanted me to look. *PERSONALLY* I don't care for the green post processing, it doesn't do anything for the image. And there a white thing on the right sticking out, in my head it would look better if it either wan't there or the whole frame was wall-o-guitar.
