I think it would be better with the entire cannon in the image. Cutting the edge of the carriage wheel off doesn't help.

Yes, it is, right off of hwy 41/70 Next to that little buy here/pay here dealership.

Plus some leveling, but cliping your subject is not so good and makes anything else moot.

Thought so. There are several battlefields and cannons scattered around the area but something about that background looked familiar.

I didn't know until you guessed the battlefield that you are from this area. Not to sound all forum stalker like, but we should meet up sometime and go shoot. I'm new up here and have NO IDEA what there is to take photos of.

Oh heck yeah! There are tons of places in this area that are great for a photographer. There are a several on one of my web sites Here but I haven't gotten everything moved over yet. Radnor Lake is a good spot but much better in the winter and spring (the lake gets covered in scummy green algae and it is ugly and stinks to high heaven!) Couchville Lake is another great spot.

There's another Nashville person on here as well. I guess we should all 3 meet up sometime and go do something.

Mostly, I'd just echo the comments about watching your composition and getting the whole cannon in the frame. You also want some room on the left side for the cannon to "shoot" into. Since it's pointed toward the left, give it a little more room on the left, basically the opposite of what you did, where all the extra space is on the right side.

Thank you all very much for the comments and critique. I'm not that new to photography, but I'm not that great at it, either. I know the more critique I get and the more I shoot, the better I will be. Once again, you all's information is invaluable!!!
