These will probably be the last pictures I'll ever take with my D40 since my D7000 just came in today. Tell me what you think (especially composition wise).

Sorry, but those F-SAE cars are butt-ugly as far as race cars go. Gag!:

I like your photos  I really liked my D40. Congratulations on the new camera.

Bump. So I guess they're just ok then? Would really like some C&C.

Nice perspective. Looks like your DOF was a little shallow. Back panel of the car is in focus while the front isn't. Crop is a little tight on #1.

At least it's not engagement/wedding pics or babies....

Thanks. Yeah no.1 was just how it came out of the camera, no cropping done. I also rejected a lot of pictures just based on not being sharp (enough)!

Panning can be a b**** sometimes :P

My problem with #1 is that the whole.. erh... car(?) isn't in the frame :) not as sharp either, but that's just technique. What's your shutter speed and focal length?

As for number two (still not razor sharp;) ), I find the part below the car (I'll settle on car, I think) is distracting. I like that the car is going into the frame. Perhaps a crop removing the empty space below the car? Dunno, just a suggestion.

#3 I like. Nice composition, and I feel the driver looking into my soul! :P

A bit more of the distortion effect on #4 might be desirable.

I don't like the composition on #1 but the others I don't mind. I think all the photos could use more exposure but that is an easy fix in post production. I agree with TwoTwoLeft's comment on the DOF being off in Photo #1 and 2, not sure on 3 due to the tire smoke. The EXIF data shows f18 which should have been more than enough to get the whole photo in focus, maybe a slightly faster shutter speed would have helped (1/150 or 1/200).
