Here is a picture of a toad who was singing by our koi pond, and was getting braver by stepping further out on the rock.

PP: I increased the saturation and contrast by 5, and sharpened just the toad. (CS5)

What I don't like? I don't like the leaf on the right blocking part of his leg, and I don't like the little piece of pond-crap on the left, on the rock. I would have eliminated the leaf in the way, but I already had it on live-view, being dangled over the water as far as my arms could reach. =(

Any other tips? Thing you like/dislike? I can even try to reshoot something similar, the toads will be there for at least another week.

Without further ado, the toad!! Thanks for your help!

Koi ponds rule!

Are the toads mating? The first time I experienced that, was freaking bizarre. The billions of babies that came out of the pond, baby toads no bigger than your pinky finger nail! We dont get toads at our pond in the city. :grumpy:

I agree the leaf is distracting. You got some nice detail on him.

My dad won't let me mow the grass when the little baby toads are out because I will get off the mower and save every single one! =( We get little teeny tiny baby turtles too!

I'll try again tomorrow, hopefully they'll pick a slightly different location to sing from so I can get different pictures. By the way, any good tips for getting pictures of the fish? We've got some HUGE ones but the water always screws it all up. (The koi have eaten most of the tadpoles these past two years, by the way. booo)

For fish pics, I turn the pumps off, and sit and watch, and watch, and watch, and watch, through the viewfinder. Follow one fish for a while, then another....

You'll eventually get that "moment" to capture.

Baby turtles???!!! I am so jealous

Ah! Turning the pumps off, why didn't I think of that!? I'm such a dunce, that's a great idea. Thank you!
