I pasted the code here for you so we could see it better for c&c.

dead-on flash, baby with santa hat, and naked baby butt.

all you need is a lens flare and page curl.

I was being sarcastic.

The shot, compositionally is a bit... cliche? The baby in the santa hat has been done to death.

The dead-on flash is something that people tend to do until they realize how painful it makes the images. You want to get a flash that you can bounce off another surface like a wall or ceiling. It softens the light and returns depth to the subject.

Oh well **** see how much I know. Ok well I still think the naked Santa baby is super cute.... So do I just need to purchase a flash that I can tilt up?

If this was the first ever naked baby with Santa hat, maybe it was cute.
If it's your baby or your friend's baby or a relative's baby, it might be cute to you.
To those of us with no attachment to that baby, it isn't cute, it's just a cliche that everyone has done to death.

Well yes that is my little guy.

You need to purchase a flash that you can use off of the camera. As mentioned your on-camera pop-up flash, or even a speedlight used in the camera's hot-shoe and pointed at the subject results in a very "flashed" appearance and catchlights which are in the dead centre of the eye. If that's not in the budget right now, then you can improve your images greatly just by the simple expedient of adding a diffuser to your pop-up flash. Most homes are equipped with this single-use, tear-away, disposable pop-up flash diffuser. Tear off a strip, drape it over your pop-up flash and re-shoot.

Btw, to op... Lots of shots we take of our kids aren't "good photographs" but they still are wonderful to us as parents. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just good to learn to identify the difference.
