its kind of boring to me, but i like how the matching plate is blurred in the background.

This image is boring to me. That is just my opinion. And the circular object (a light I think) at the top is distracting to me.

Boring is maybe not the right word, there is just too much to look at in the frame and so the bits that are interesting lose interest.

I think it's fine -- just needs some tweaking. Crop out the distracting light mass at the top and handle the blown highlights, i.e., recover the highlight detail in the main subject area.
