Camera Guidance

After looking at many post, threads, websites, and cameras there have been many camera suggestions for a person starting out in the photography world, but there is only one problem.Many people suggest going with an older camera maybe by a year or two the only problem is they don't sell those cameras in stores anymore. So how am I/anybody capable of knowing if the camera has the "right fit"?

Older is compatible in size to the newer per internet research. Thus it is easy to conclude that the one unseen used one will "fit" like one held in the hand new one.

I believe that people are talking buying used cameras as far as older cameras. I guess looking at a new version in the store and then buying a used earlier version from either a store , on-line or Craig's list is possible. I personally think buying some types of older equipment such as camera bodies isn't a good idea due to advancements that are made in newer technology. Buying used for the novice off of the internet or Craig's list is not a good idea IMO - how does a novice know if the camera, lens or whatever is working the way it's supposed to be. Then again I am not a very big buying used person.

I started out with a used, store bought 35mm camera and zoom lens and after a while they didn't have the features (camera) or resolution (lens) that I wanted so I bought new. I don't think that camera/ lens combo lasted a year before I upgraded.
