Camera Phone vs Digital Camera vs Analog Camera QUALITY

so the sensor is the main thing you look for when buying a camera?

I am no photographer or expert as you can see.

I just want a good camera that will take quality photos. Sharp, not blurred, not blended, good colors.

Both that Fujifilm and my LG Thrill have a delay when taking photos. The iPod touch does not. If you move the camera even a little bit with the LG Thrill it will come out blurred.

My best advise would be to head to a camera store, as questions and check out different cameras to see what they do.

From your description of what you would like a camera to do, there are many different options. Seeing and handling different cameras will give you a better idea of what you are looking for.

Most people forget that a 35mm film camera has a full frame sensor that is 35mm x 24mm (for 35mm film anyways). Yes a film SLR will take higher quality pictures than a early digi cam and camera phones. That being said, a point and shoot or compact film camera, 35mm, will still out perform the above camera because the sensor is still "full frame". The optics on compact or point and shoot cameras where not all garbage, same as not all point and shoot digi cams are garbage. The size of the sensor in this case allows for more info to be gathered.

35mm film =/= sensor. Sensors are digital. Film is analog. But I get what you're saying.

If you go to an actual "camera store" I think you will find that this isn't much of a problem. Befriending the owner of a local camera store, one that employs actual photographers, maybe the smartest decision that you can make. I did the exact same thing when I was starting out., and I found that it was well worth my time. I would avoid the big box stores for advise, as most salespersons only have $$ on their mind.

If you are looking for a simple, fast camera, that is easy to use, I would suggest having a look at one of the bridge cameras. For canons, that would be G12, G15 or G1X. Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and Samsung, all have good point and shoot cameras that are worth having s look at.

Quality is relative to a budget, the subject being shot, the amount of light available at the time of the shoot, the skill of the person taking the shot, the medium capturing the light, and even the size the picture is going to blown up to. An Iphone 4S and higher or Samsung Galaxy S3/Note 2 can take a pretty good quality pic in good lighting. It will look great on instagram or facebook but when blown up on your desktop PC to full resolution may not be as great. A good point and shoot can take good every day photos within the range of it's lens, the size of its flash, and for challenging shots the amount settings customization it allows. A DSLR can take great photos and its range is limited by your budget, your skill, the quality of the lens you buy, and your own creativity.
