Please let me know if a camera, in my case Kodak EasyShare CD90, can work from computer USB port without a battery installed (or with a discharged battery).

Thank you.

I do not think so. Camera is operated with DC current and computer is operated with AC current.

The input current to the computer is AC, but the computer itself use DC only (the computer power supply do all the wonder). The USB port usually is 5V DC.

OP, I think you may need to read the manual that shipped with the camera.

Neither of my cams do. Matter of fact tethered or when dumping a card through the cable they seem to eat batteries faster.

Have you checked your camera's instruction manual?

Why bother even asking? Just remove the camera battery and hook up a USB cord......

I've only seen this work with devices that are also able to charge the battery over USB. I had a P&S years ago that did it...

Just try it though, see what happens..

Auto Spam.

Are you the same guy who bitches about that every time? Spoilers, but it isn't spam if I put it there in the settings menu. Please STFU about it now. Thanks.
