Can any head go on a set of Bogen/MF legs?

Managed to FINALLY 3221-WN "wilderness model" tripod from Bogen for free, long story but whatever. It came with a 501 head on it, which apparently is a video camera head. It has female threads, as opposed to the typical male screw to go into your camera, so I'm pretty sure I can't use it.

Can I use any decent head on top of this?

Any Bogen or Manfrotto head will work for sure. Benbo, Arco-Swiss and most others should be fine too, but I seem to remember that RRS has a problem with Manfrotto legs.
