I rented a D800 over the weekend to try it out because I am thinking about upgrading to a
D600 from my D90 and they did not have a D600 and basically I figured they were pretty close
with the exceptions of the pixels, any I have lightroom 4.3 and after I load my photos I keep getting error
messages like ligt room has encountered problem reading the photo. and unexpected end of file occurred.
I know the files are bigger can someone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it. The memory cards are all new
I have looked everwhere on the internet for answers but cannot find a clear one. Im putting my card in my computer slot and
downloading that way. I know my usb is fine because I downloaded other files from my card that came out of my D90 and they downloaded fine
into lightroom any help will be wonderful.

I have 4.3 is there another update I dont know about

It could be due to your version hasn't been updated to read D800 raw files. It's not a 4.3 issue... it's a 4.3.108.11.17 issue v. 4.3.108.11.19 issue.

Not all raw files are the same, even within the same manufacturer's lineup. D800 raw files are different than D600 raw files, D4 raw files, D90 raw files..... Every new camera that comes out has a different raw format to them, and the 3rd-party software engineers must update their software to be able to read the new camera files.

So your saying I need to buy another lightroom software

No. You need to update your version of it. It may be old enough to not have the ability to read the newer D800 files. Just go to their home page and search for updates.

Buying a new version (upgrading) means going from 4.3 to 5.1 or 5.2.

Updating and upgrading are two different animals.

I did that I went into my lightroom and did check for updates and it said there are no updates.

Nikon's D800 was supported with the LR 4.1 version - Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras

As mentioned by Ken, D90 Raw files are not same as D800 Raw files. If you formatted the memory card in a D90, and then put it in the D800 without formatting it in the D800, that is your problem.
None of the D800 files will be readable because the memory card FAT (File Allocation Table) is configured for the D90 Raw file type.
