Can this lens be used on Canon 7D

it does appear that it will. the ebay ad is showing it as an EF mount, which is what your 7D has.

I have £50 more that I can invest before xmas in additional lens and would really appreciate what you would do in my case :/

thank you in advance,

its your typical "all-in-one" lens.
its an older model, and doesn't have image stabilization on it, but its priced cheap enough not to matter much if you are looking for that focal range.
it is mentioned that it has a "stiff" focusing and zoom ring, which might account for the price. you will have to decide if that is a major issue for you or not. this isnt really a lens that is worth taking in to get serviced, since it will probably cost more than the lens is worth.

***It SHOULD work***
Many of the older off brand lenses are not fully compatible with the newer cameras. Off brands are backwards manufactured. Meaning they have to dissect Canon technology, Canon doesn't share. Canon will always be backwards compatible if their technology changes (and it has) however that does not mean it will always work 100% with an off brand. And there are many off brand older lenses that do not work with the new bodies.

Assuming it is either the newer technology OR it has been re-chipped by sigma it's an OK lens. If you want a snap shot lens it'll be OK. If you want quality and sharpness-this isn't the lens you want.
