Can You Adjust Number of "New Posts" Shown?

I try to visit this site at least daily, and when I do, I click on the "New Posts" link at the top and browse through threads in that manner. However, I find that if I haven't visited within ~20 hours, there are over 200 new threads and those older than the most recent 200 are not displayed.

Can this be changed? I think it's kinda silly that this feature doesn't work unless I've visited within a day, though it does speak well for the activity on the board.
