I have no idea what this is (leaf) though instead of cancer I get a mind of something sci-fi - some alien thing. Indeed the greens and ripped structure really screams the classic "Alien" Film franchise style.

Thanks bud. It is a tropical leaf. I set out at lunch today with two projects; motion, and to say something about cancer.

Though as others have said it is both interesting and unusual, and the image is well done, as one who has watched cancer claim the lives of so many in my family, and now dealing with it for the last 8 years on a really personal level, I'm afraid you missed the mark on it's representation. Cancer is not just a picture of a cell, it's the horrific damage it does to the soul of the individual and everyone close to them. It drains the spirit, and fills the body with never ending pain, making even the most simplistic tasks a chore. To watch a loved one descend into a pit of hell, and not being able to do anything to help is in itself an almost unbearable pain. But cancer is more, it's about the fighting spirit of those who face it with defiance against the odds, knowing that the odds of winning are slim, but determined to beat it. It's about the love for life that you develop, knowing that every second of every minute has to count. You learn to put a lot of things into perspective when you battle cancer.

Don't be sad JC, I think you rock man. Always trying, always searching, an inspiration to all. It's just to me and my experiences I've seen so many sides to the ugly world of cancer, first with my father, an now with my wife. that truth be told, I'm not sure there is a "single" image that can represent such a horrible thing.

Thanks for commenting. I can think of other ways to represent cancer but this one I presented it in the form of the tumor in an active state of spreading.
