Wondering if any kind soul could give me their views on Canon 1300d vs Nikon d3300 with standard 18-55 lenses. As an initial start to astrophotography? Hoping to do Milky Way and attach to a telescope shots. (Realise going to need modding etc later, but it's which one to start with) thanks!

Nikon.Better sensor.

I will elaborate a little more on the first two posts.
The sensor in the Canon 1300D is a very old and was used in lots of older Canon cameras like the T2i, T3i, T4i, T5i, T5 and now T6
Its nothing more then ok sensor but lack mainly in dynamic range and low light performance.
The sensor in the Nikon D3300 is totally modern has better low light performance, more resolution and dynamic range and with good lenses offering shorper images due to the removal of the AA filter.

Basically no competition the D3300 is the better camera.

Thank you! Hard to argue with those comments! So useful. Sincerely thanks!
