canon 70-200 2.8 vs sigma 70-200 2.8

Im in the market for new glass and i was wondering if there was i big deference in these two lenses.
I don't need the IS i shoot mostly sports (baseball) for nonprofit. Thanks in advance

Are you referring to the new canon 70-200 is ii or the older version. If you are, I would put the money out for the canon. It gets the most favorable reviews of any lens I have ever seen.

Can't speak for the Sigma, but the Canon is probably the finest lens I've ever used. I wish I still had the opportunity to shoot sports so I would have had an excuse to keep it.

ya i rented the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II for a event i shot a few months back it WAS pretty sweet, but i just cant find anything that can justify $400+ difference.

There is a youtube video if you search Sigma 70-200 that the Guy talks about a test ran between the Canon and Sigma and the Sigma won 14-12...cant remember what company ran the test.....

I just got the Sigma 70-200 OS for Nikon and I must say its pretty sweet.

Sigma is softer wide open, canon is very sharp. But it depends how large of a picture you'll be looking at. At 100% crop sigma is softer and has less detail, but if you'll only be looking at up to 12 inch prints, you'll be fine with it.

I think this decision should be pretty simple. If you have the money, buy Canon and never regret it, if you don't, ge tthe Sigma. It's still a very good lens.
