Canon EOS R8 vs Canon 5D Mark IV

Hello everyone, this has been a great week for me. I retired from contracting after 40 years in the business. I am back full time into photography which I love. I have been looking at going Mirrorless based on a neighbor telling me he has the CANON Eos R7. I was looking at the EOS R8 or the EOS 5D Mark IV as I have the MII in my gear. What I worry about is replacing a ton of Glass to get full features out of the R8. Any suggestions, I also have the 90 and 70 D as backup rigs. Thanks in advance and let me know.

I have a 5diii and an RP. Seeing the exact exposure in the viewfinder and the face tracking is an one-way for mirrorless.
All EF glass works perfectly with the adapter.

mirrorless is a game changer for studio work and to balance flash outside and the ability to use continuous light too.

Thanks for the comment...I do not do studio work, mostly nature and landscapes. I really don't want to have to buy new glass for a mirrorless.

Hello, made the decision to get the EOS R7 and the adaptor for the lenses I have already. Started my retirement and time for jumping in both feet again.

This is way off, but hopefully not too far. I used my EF-L lenses on the M with the adapter, and they worked just fine. Since the R is something better and more modern, I would expect that you don't need to be concerned with your EF lenses on the R camera.

Personally, for what I do, I don't like the EVF. But I guess that just makes me a stick in the mud and unable to adapt. I had an R, I sold it, the lenses all worked fine, just my personal taste for seeing through the lens.

I don't know what features would be lost? Maybe you can explain that. As far as I can see, using a Canon adapter, you will lose out on IBIS.
