Like all of Canon's super-telephotos (300 / 400 / 500 / 600 and now 800) this new lens appears to be as close to perfect optically as current technology can make it.

They have the Canon 600mm f/4L IS in the shop I go to for $4,500 (used) right now.

The glass is immaculate but the barrel has allot of ware marks on it.

Well some people must be buying it if its in production! the price and weight and very limited use turn me off from these super telephotos. im sure its top notch though
