canon a570 ls vs Lumix Dmc-LZ8

They both look like good cameras. I dont really care that they are from walmart. I just want a good beginner camera. I dont know if im gonna get into serious photography. I just want a good camera to keep around with me.

I was planning to get the a570, but the lumix has 5x optical zoom and it has aperture just like the a570 , but with 1x more optical zoom.

What do you think is the better camera? Ignore the added printer with the a570.

The Lumix or the canon camera?

This is why I dont even bother to ask. All I wanted to know was the better out of these two cameras.

having owned a similar from factor to the canon it will be alot more comfortable to use hand hold than the Panasonic. Theres a good chance too that the canon hill have a leg up on on noise over the panasonic although the panasonic will be a bit stronger in the lens department. I own a panasonic dmc-fx07 to replace my old a70 and after having used the panasonic for a bit the build quiality if right up there with the canon if not better. if i were to do it again i would get a canon because of the lower noise levels in lower light conditions.
