Canon AE-1 Program problem

I bought a new battery for my Canon AE-1 Program and it was working fine. I shot a couple off with out film and took pictures with a roll of film. But now it will not turn on at all. As in the the shutter will not release. The battery test doesn't work either. I couldn't have used up the whole battery as it was less than 50 shoots and I bought the battery that day.

Try a fresh battery. They are finicky at times. I've bought new that were no good.
