"Are We There Yet?"

Canon has revealed more about its EOS R5 -- sort of. This time the lack of information is probably not all their fault. They have revealed a lot of the relevant specs on the video side, -- and still missing the price and a delivery date. The problems with their announcement are at least partly due to the lack of a NAB to announce it at. Instead, Canon held a "Virtual Press Conference". In this "reveal" it does seem that the interest is mainly video, which is at least partly due to it clearly being geared for NAB. That does not mean it will be weak for stills, but we will have to wait for that. For now, the headline is filled with 8K/30 4K/120 video in 10-bit H.265, and full sensor width usage for 4K and 8K. However, the dual card slots (one for CFexpress cards and one UHS-II SD slot) are going to make a lot of still photographers happy too.
