Hello.

I have an interest of this lens: [h=2]Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens[/h]But since I am still new and have been trying to learn the symbols and numbers of what they mean. But still can't determine if this lens is good or not. I have a 18-55mm II don't remember the rest of the numbers and have a Quantaray 70-300mm, which i heard this is a cheap version. Want to get a lens that will take better pictures than the ones I have. By the way I have a Canon XTI. Its old yes.... how much does the camera have to do with how the pictures come out? Any feed back is appreciated.

This is being posted up for $155

Thanks in advanced

if you already have a 70-300, i doubt you would need the 55-250, you already have the range. save the $155.

Hello Cesar, welcome to the forum!

the 55-250mm is the focal range. bigger numbers = telephoto, smaller numbers = wider angle. the f/4-5.6 is your maximum aperture range, which has something to do with the diameter the lens will open up to, lower number = allows more light = better in dim lighting without flash. I don't know anything about Canon or the XTI. I don't know anything about Quantaray either. I'd recommend getting used to your gear and understanding it better, then you'll have a better idea what you want and how it fits what you need. You'll find a lot of your answers searching on this forum though. Good luck!

If you are not sure whether you should buy the 55-250mm IS lens, then you should wait. When you find the limitation of your lenses, you will know what to get next at that time. That means playing around with the current setup, practice and learn. Once you know more about photography as well as camera gears, you may want something different.
