Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
right now im shooting with a nikon d3000

besides the megapixels what are the some other major differences, since one course i have to take is large format photography is the 18 megapixel going to help me a lot more than my 10.2 megapixel?

i take it there will be also a lot more in camera editing options and i kind of like how the screen swivels out

is there an option to keep the shutter open for long periods of time to do star trails?

i saw the burst mode specs too it looks amazing

"Large format" has nothing to do with megapixels. You're most likely going to be dealing with large format film cameras.

Large Format Photography

ok, i was under the impression that large format meant things like movie poster size and banner size images

Well, usually large format is used to make big prints with, but no, it's referring to the film/sensor size, not the print size. Coincidentally, I don't believe there are any commercially available large format digital cameras; if there were, they'd be as expensive as the Lamborghini mentioned in your sig.

haha, thanks for the help, so i really dont need to get this canon since i already have my nikon, ill get the canon if financial aid is able to pay for it, so why not get it if i can get it for free

pending financial aid will be good to me ill be attending the art institute of charlotte in october

I just applied to the Art Institute online. Have you taken classes with them yet?

not yet, but the school is beautiful,i cant wait to start

I would not make that upgrade if I was you! Its more of a sideways step. Im sure the t3i has some more features but what is it that you are trying to accomplish that the d3000 cant do? Star trails is mostly done with long shutter speeds(bulb mode) and image stacking.

i kind of do like the burst mode thats a lot more than what i have now but i rarely use it, and with my bulb setting theres no way to set a timer on it long enough to do a star trail, ill have to sit there for an hour holding it down, and the remote didnt work on bulb mode

What hardrock is trying to say is that if you waste your money on a side-grade you will not have it for upgrading. A 5d, or 5d mII would be much better investments as you would not likely out grow those. You will outgrow your T3i in most likely 1-2 years. I outgrew my T1i in almost 7 months.

Also can I ask why jump ship to Canon? You might as well stay Nikon, especially since you're already familiar with the systems.

its the camera being offered from the school for photography students

So you are willing to spend twice the money for the t3i that you spent for the d3000 to get a burst mode of 3.7fps compared to the 3.0fps of the d3000? That really doesn't make sense? I have a 50d that is 6fps and I use it but everytime I wait for the moment the shot is better than if I shot rapid fire at 6fps. Dont get me wrong it helps but .7fps is not going to help you. Save your money and buy NICE QUALITY GLASS. Then you will see a difference. As far as star trails the shutter release usually has a lock that you can lock but if not than just use the longest shutter speed which is normally 30 seconds and adjust for the correct exposure and merge 5 to 20 shots for your star trails. Hope this helps...

i wouldnt be spending any money on it if financial aid will be covering it, and the school doesnt offer any lenses
