I just got a Canon 430EXII and Yongnuo wireless flash trigger, but am having some image problems.

The flash works, but when triggered by the Yongnuo between 1/4 and 3/4 of my image is black.

I can rotate the camera any way and the black section is always on the same section of the sensor. If I put the flash directly on the camera, I do not have this problem. I am thinking that there may be some timing issue between the flash and the shutter, but do not know how to change the timing.

When I use the "L" mode, triggering the remote flash with the on camera flash, everything works fine.

Setup
Canon 50D, Sigma 150mm/Tamron 17-50 2.8, Yongnuo CTR-301P wireless flash trigger, Canon 430EXII

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haha I had this exact same problem with a Yongnuo flash, but when it was on my camera. What is your shutter speed?? It has to be below 1/250 of a sec. or it is to fast for the flash.

That is the shutter showing up in your image...or I should say that the shutter is blocking part of the sensor in the instant that the flash fires.

What shutter speeds were you using? The camera has a 'max sync speed', probably, 1/200 or something like that. So you need to keep the shutter speed slower that that. Also, your radio trigger may be adding in some delay, so you would need to keep the shutter even slower.

Yep, slowing the shutter speed fixed it, thanks.
