Canon G12 - Scratched Lens

Picked this up two summers ago for CDN$10. It does take some nice shots (I'll post a few), but I'd love to do something about the scratch.

Just tried to eraser method. No good. Does the black sharpie method work? (Perhaps I'll take a shot of the scratch and post it here. Seems to be a gravel scratch.)

Thanks in advance. I do love the G12. I'd get another, if I could find one reasonably priced. Great all-around camera.
