Canon Ml-3 Macro Ring-lite vs Yongnuo YN-568EX

Looking to buy my first flash. I can get these two for roughly the same price. I would be using it for both portraits and macro. Which would you choose?

That ringlite is automatic only, and designed for macro. Because it is mounted around the lens axis, it will cause massive redeye in any portrait subjects... and also cause a shadow all around them if they are close to a wall or background. It would also give very flat light... with minimal detail shadowing, not always optimal for portraiture. Personally, for a multi-use flash, I would go with the Yongnuo.... much more versatile.
