Canon or Nikon? If I want to get cheap lenses later on

Should I buy Nikon D90 or Canon t3i If I need cheaper lenses later on? What I mean is, Which brand is more budget friendly?

Both brands have plenty of low-priced lenses available. It's about equal these days.

If you are serious about photography you will learn that you don't want to be cheap.... Lens quality has a lot to do with image quality.

either way, both brands offer cheaper consumer grade lenses as well as a large market of used gear. And there are plenty of third party lenses (both consumer and pro) for both brands. there really isn't a "better" brand to pick. just go out and try both of them and pick the one you like the best. you cant go "wrong" choosing either.

The mount on Nikon cameras is compatible with a great many older Nikkor lenses. The degree of compatibility depends on the camera model. Some of those are really very good and can be bought fairly inexpensively, especially the manual focus ones. Sony DSLRs are compatible with some Minolta lenses, but there are as many of those. Adapters can be used to mount Nikkor lenses, and I presume others as well, to Canon cameras but as far as I know will only work in manual - no auto focus and no auto metering.

Nikon's current F-mount appeared in 1959.

In 1959 Canon used it's R-mount.
Then in 1964 Canon replaced the R-mount with the FL-mount.
The Canon FL-mount was replaced by the FD-mount in 1971.
The FD-mount was made obsolete by the current EF-mount in 1987, and the EF-S mount (for crop sensor Canon cameras) appeared in 2003.

Most camera makers re-designed their lens mount in the mid-1980's to accommodate the newest geewizz! feature - auto focus.

Nikon and Pentax were the only 2 that did not re-design their lens mount.

So if you want to use old lenses I recommend you go with Nikon or Pentax, though there is a lot more usede Nikon gear than ther is pentax gear.

Canon..the flange focal distance allows lots of lenses to be adapted without complications.

Don't you have that backwards? I would rather get a cheaper body and better glass! The bodies of today will be cheaper when you go to upgrade while your glass should last you a long time!
