Canon PowerShot A590 IS question

I've got that camera ^

And I'm trying to do a major light-painting project. The maximum exposure time in Manual is 15 seconds. Is there any kind of hack that will force that longer? Or is my best bet to do multiple exposures and put them all together at the end?

Multiple exposures may be your best bet.

Thanks for the help. With a lot of help from my friends, I pulled the shot off in 15 seconds. Here it is.
