Just got the camera 2 days ago
. I am trying to record some audio straight to my camera and for some reason I am only getting one channel at a time.
I have a microphone with an xlr output and a MONO quarter inch on the other end. That mono quarter output was going into a stereo 1/8 inch converter and into the camera.
This was only recording on the left channel.
I bought a mono quarter inch to mono 1/8 inch converter thinking that a mono 1/8 inch will send the same sound to both channels, but it doesn't.
When I tested the stereo 1/8 inch converter by running two signals (one to left and one to right) it worked fine.
Does that mean that the only way to get a mono signal in both channels is by using a stereo mic output and stereo converter?
PS in the meantime I am ordering a tascam digital recorder that also takes xlr inputs, so I will capture the sound that way, but I am sill bummed out that I couldn't get the camera to record a mono signal on both channels, not just one.
