Can't upload images

For some reason, I can no longer upload images from my Canon EOS Rebel T6 to my Dell Inspiron 5490 PC. I bought an external card reader, but either it doesn't work or that's not the problem. Please help

Howdy and welcome! Can you connect your T6 directly to your computer? If you can do that, there are a couple of ways to transfer the images. If you are storing them as jpeg, then the OS can transfer the images directly from the camera. If your images are in RAW format, you can connect the camera to the PC and navigate to the images on the camera and copy/move them manually. Some post processing software will also copy the images from the camera, for example if you have an Adobe subscription, you can use Adobe Bridge, then you won't have to mess with constantly removing the SD card from the camera.

You can get the Mini-USB cable on Amazon, or at Best Buy, maybe even WalMart. I ordered a couple just recently, because I bought a used Canon SX530 that needed one.

You say "no longer", so how were you doing it before your method quit on you ?

I was putting the card in the card reader on my PC

So if the contacts in your card reader don't work, then why not buy an usb adapter. But it appears you solved it. I thought an adapter might be cheaper and there are no wires.

You'll find that using the cord will eliminate 100% of the physical wear on the card.
