First time shooting sports. It was getting dark when the game finally started and I couldn't have a high shutter speed for the action shots really.

I am not sure if you will be going back but a friend of mine has a shot he took at that stadium. It looks like he was behind home plate on the middle level. It is a wide shot that shows most of the park and the arch in the background. He has it enlarged and it is nice with the place is full.

Higher ISO may have helped you get higher shutter speeds assuming it didn't case too much noise.
