Cartwheels

I posted this about a month ago. The horizon was tilted and that bugged me. I straightened it and now I think it takes on a different character. What do you think?

How much tilt was there in the initial photo? Sometimes an angled horizon can give a sense of motion to surrounding elements. Otherwise, not bad at all, Kulanu.

I actually like the angle in the second one. It looks more like a cartwheel in that one. The first one looks like a handstand.

Now that I can compare both, I can say the tilt gives my eye the impression that it's following the cartwheel. Whereas with the straight horizon, it's like I'm watching it from a stationary position. It really depends on the effect you want to achieve in the photo. Hope that helped.

I too like the tilt in the second (original) shot. I would have liked the whole frame to have been moved up with less foreground. But it sounds like you were shooting very quickly (was she your model or just a random girl doing cartwheels?), so that is sometimes tough to work out that quickly. I understand. I wonder about cropping it as more of a panoramic with the horizon leveled to really isolate attention on the two people rather than the open space around them.

Thank you. I was walking through an open square in London, I caught a young girl setting up for a cartwheel and I just shot it as best as I could in the moment. I agree with you guys that the original, though an odd angle, is the better perspective.
