Had to cut out most of the background as I did not pay attention to what was there when I took the shot although it was a little rushed as he doesn't look this regal that often! Any other tips on cropping & fading other than using the lasso tool with high feather?

Looks like your PP did the trick pretty good. I like how his/her face details, eyes, whiskers, brows, stand out. :thumbup:
