Another drive in the country ...

comments welcome. thanks!

sky was overcast, so i burned in the darker area, kinda obvious, but playing. Should have had better definition in clouds, but I have a cheap circular polarizer ($24 from Best Buy) probably ought to buy a better one.

cool scene, but I don't like the halos around the trees in the skyline. What post processing did you do?

the halo's are wayy to obvious. Pretty shot though.

I used the Burn tool. It's about 10 minutes from my home, so going back and going to work on that sky. I'm looking direct East when taking the shot, so going to definitely try back before sundown. Hopefully the cows eat at that time of day. This was shot at 1pm on overcast day.

I like it...minus the burn. My eye is very drawn to the right tree and cattle. Might be neat cropped.

The halos kill an otherwise decent autumn scene. The cattle really help this shot.

Here's the same shot without the burning in the sky - and a couple different crops...

Can you post the original? I think it has potential but the burning definately looks bad. Bracketed shots for HDR would have helped the sky alot. A polarizer wouldn't have worked well with a dull overcast sky, it would be better if it was a blue sky.

lots of editing options with it ... this was the original - unedited.

feel free to edit the orig and see what you can come up with - like two pics in one...

The ground is at an angle (not horizontal) and that's really bugging me...

Other than that and the halo in the first posted image, I like the contrast between the two trees. The cattle adds too.

if your camera has a raw shooting option, use it. It helps a lot with the burnt highlights and darkened shadows. The picture is great, is has great potential :) congrats

It was a raw file. And used a circular polarizer to try to get something out of the sky, but didn't expose right evidently.

Got anything a little larger? I mean it doesn't have to be native rez, but this is practically a thumbnail :D
