This is why people may find the lens disturbing.

I can see why you'd use the word 'disturbing' for the donut-bokeh! It's certainly a bit different anyway. The shots seem sharp enough

I really love 1, 2 ,3!! This are amazing! Good job!

You've done well for all the bad reports a mirror lenses gets.

These look great, I'm new here im just wondering what is a mirror lens

unlike a regular lens, which is like a stack of many individual lens, a mirror lens works like a reflecting telescope. the light enters through 1 end, bounces against 2 mirrors and then goes to the camera. this type of design saves on weight and cost (less glass is needed), but needs more light (every time light is bounced, some is lost) and sometimes isnt as sharp as regular lens.

hope that helped :D

Outstanding use of the 500 mirror lens!!!

Catadioptric system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A mirror lens effectively folds the optical path so a long focal length lens can be made shorter.

Most often a catadioptric design is used. Light enters the front of the lens and at the back of the tube bounces off a parabolic or spherical mirror back towards the front of the lens where there is another much smaller mirror pointed at the back of the lens tube. The image again reflects off of the small mirror and goes through a small aperture in the back of the lens and onto the image sensor/film.
