You have a choice to change this. It is possible. Pay cash, in real shops, offline. Send letters not emails. Read books printed on paper. Use normal telephones not smartphones; if you have to make a call underway, use a telephone box. Don't use social media and keep your personal details off the Internet. Is this enough to make you invisible? Probably not, but it will make things a lot more difficult for those keeping watch. Is this too much to ask for most people these days? Certainly. In 1984 nobody had much of a footprint.
