So I was doing a shoot today, and my card ran out of memory, so I went to put in a new memory card, and it wouldn't go in. So I tried a different card, and it wouldn't go in either. I looked down into where the memory card goes, and the little pins that stick into the memory card were all bent. I called Nikon, and the only thing they could tell me was to send it in. Has anybody ever had this problem? I'm seriously devastated. It didn't make my day, that's for sure. :(

It's a negative with the design of CF cards - or rather the devices which accept them. Easy to damage. How many are bent, just one or two? You could try gently lifting them up straight again.

There's about three that are bent. I was trying, but I was under some pressure, so I gave up. But I'm going to look at it again today, and see what I can use to possibly TRY to push them back up.

I'm just looking at my card reader's CF port. One of the pins - top row , first on the left is bent flat !! :) however my files continue to load ok. One pin maybe redundant (?) at least for 'read' operations.

OK, I just lifted the pin back upright with the tip of a pocket knife. Took 30 seconds.

I fixed them! :D I used a teeny flathead screwdriver, and they're back to new! Woo! I'm thinking though, CF cards and the little pins that stick up into the card is a very DUMB invention!

Been using CF cards in my Canons for years and never had a problem
