Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Pretty sure I am wasting my time on this section but Ill try anyway. A lot of us use white borders on our photos. Do you think you can change the background to maybe gray? This way either white or black border will be visible. Kinda pointless to have white border on white background :lmao:

The background, in the 'post' area, is gray...albeit a light gray.

I'm going to bump this thread. The background doesn't need to be changed, but we do need either more background options (including a black background) or the option of viewing the photos on black (see Flickr, Facebook, Google+, etc.).

And I'll re-post something that I've just posted in one of the galleries: Every single forum I've ever frequented (photography-related or not) has different options of backgrounds... Light, dark, colourful, etc. This one, just white... which works with some photos but basically kills the impact of some others. Even Facebook (not a site specialized in photography) has an option to view photos on black. One is left wondering why the biggest photo forum in cyberspace is fine with forcing a white background on everybody. Brings back memories of that classic Avis advertising campaign: "We are only No. 2 in rent-a-cars, so we try harder."

(Aaah, quoting myself felt like an ego trip.)

I'd really like to see more thought put into how photos are FEATURED on this site.

This is a photography forum after all. Viewing of photos should be equally good or better here than anywhere on the web. Honestly, facebook is renknowned for killing photos with their resizing, but even they have figured out the importance of viewing photos on a dark gray/neutral background.

1. Change the forum to a darker, more neutral gray, or give us the option to change it.
2. Change direct image attachments so they're not all jumbled, small, and take forever to load when clicked. Perhaps generate a 1024 sized preview upon upload, and clicking will take to the full-sized file.

One thing everyone can do is center your photographs and put enough space in between them(12-15 lines). so that when someone opens your thread your photos are at least surrounded by white space and can be better viewed individually without seeing the photo above or below.

THIS!

If you are posting in a "Gallery", shouldn't you present them as if they were hung in a gallery? (ample spacing)

My other peeve is posting images that are to big to be seen without scrolling. That's just redunkulous!

Background color? Meh. Most galleries I have been in have white walls. I've only seen one show, on black. Your experiences may vary, but probably only a little.

I agree and disagree. For web viewing, black/dark gray is the best in most cases in my opinion. Other websites that have adopted black background: Google+ (default), Facebook (default), 500px (one click option), flickR (lightbox), etc. etc.

True, but those gallery walls are not bright and backlit like a monitor, are they?

I played with this.. used the Awesome box v2.0. Now when I click on an image, I get a nice dark grey BG! Sweet!
