My brother and I took a day off work, went on a hike and I took this shot. It was less than ideal conditons, it was mostly cloudy, middle of the day and on the verge of raining/snowing but I am happy how it came out. C&C welcome.

cloudy is the perfect conditions for a shot like this, like being lit with a large softbox.

I like the soft water.

I had to look twice, actually bring it into Photoshop and really hard look it, but upon my first glance, it seemed out of focus except for the very foreground rocks. I did a copy paste to check this out beacuse I recalibrated my monitor the other day and wanted to be dead on sure before I posted.

Your EXIF data says you were shooting at F:/22, 1/3 sec, ISO 100, yet unless there was a significant wind blowing, the trees seem quite soft and the rocks in the center highlighted area, also softer than I would expect at this distance at 18mm focal length and f:/22.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I am still learning as I have just made the transition from slr and point/shoot digital to my first dslr (Canon 60d), Im having lots of fun so far! Glad you all enjoyed the pic.

Thanks for taking a look at that, I too agree that it seems a bit out of focus. Its a problem that I have noticed in some of my other shots too. Some just dont seem as sharp as I expected to get out of my camera. It may just be my learning curve though. Any insight would be appriciated.

I took the pic with the 60d's EF-S 18-135mm IS kit lens. I used A/F in that shot, center point only. I figured with the f/22 and focusing on the rocks (in the center of the river) the DOF would be great enough for everything to be nice and sharp. There was no significant wind blowing but it was breezy. My tripod is not the best (THIS could be the whole problem), but to help combat the cheap tripod I used the 2 second timer to minimize the chance I caused a vibration hitting the shutter button. Lately I feel like I have had a little better luck switching to live view, zooming in on the image and manually focusing. This pic was taken as a JPEG. At the time I took this pic I hadnt tried shooting in RAW yet if that matters.
