K, well the sun got down behind the hill before I could get out there, so no more pics for today. I'm getting up early tomorrow though, so maybe I can get some morning shots then.

As for the second set, in my opinion most of them are better overall than the first set. I like the shallow depth of field, that was a good tip guys. What more can I improve on with regards to these types of shots?

I agree i like the second set as well. The only suggestions i would make is the lighting/shadows.
 
And by that you mean make the highlights on his comb and wattles less blown out and watch out for shadows cutting across his face, right?

I think the problem with the blown out highlights is my flash... Anyone know how to reduce the intensity of the on-camera flash? Cause I can get the exposure for the background right, but at that point the flash is too bright... if that makes sense, haha.
 
Do you have a TALL ladder handy?, try getting an aerial angle. would be kool
 
Ooooh! Good idea!!! I'm also 6'4", so that might be enough, haha. Also it is an orchard out there, so I could get up in a tree... GOOD IDEA!!!
