I like the second one, the first doesn't seem to be completely in focus.

I too prefer the 2nd one - but there is a lot of detail missing.
Magic focus will easily fix it and a touch of Local Contrast (see the action on my web site) will bring everything out like this...

I think we have got to pay attention to post-processing as much as taking the digital picture in the first place - well worth running a few actions on things.

Thanks for fixing that. I don't have photoshop and have been using paint.net, its a free program but don't have all the features photoshop has.

You could try Gimp - it too is free and has most of photoshop features
