Cleaning a CPL filter

I bought a CPL filter last weekend and this afternoon was the first time I had a chance to check it out. So what do I do as I remove it from the camera for the first time? Drop it!!

Being a beginner I've managed to keep things clean and haven't acquired a lot of cleaning supplies.

Anyway, without thinking I attempted to clean it using the micro fiber cloth I clean my eyeglasses. Now it seems to have a smeared sheen over the filter glass.

What should use to clean this CPL filter?

I personally use either a microfiber cloth or clean cotton t-shirts and my breath, to clean lenses or filters. I also have some lens cleaning fluid which I might use on occasion.

It's not uncommon to see some smear marks when you start cleaning. Use circular motions, working from the centre to the outer edges.

Just make sure there's nothing major on the lens...if you scratch it, that ain't good. I use lens tissue and my breath.

A NEW micro fiber cloth did the trick.

Worked pretty well on my eyeglasses also. :lmao:

I use a Lensepen myself most of the time.
