A year or so ago, I wanted to get into shooting macro but didn't have the cash for a true macro lens. I purchased a Canon 500D close-up filter and have been very happy with it in combination with my AF-S 55-200 VR. But, just this past weekend, I scored a used Nikkor AF 105mm f2.8 micro lens on ebay, that included both the Nikon 3T and 4T close-up filters. I can't imagine needing all three and figure I'll just sell the ones I don't keep to offset the price of the lens.
Does anyone have any experience with both the Canon and Nikon close-up filters that could comment on the quality differences between the two?
I am almost inclined to just keep the Nikon filters as they aren't readily available anymore but the 500D has been good to me. I plan on doing some test shots when I get the lens (it is sitting at the post office now
) but was curious if there were any prevailing opinions.
