Close up of flowers - New Lighting idea (for me!) - C&C Welcome!

I wanted to try and take some close up shots utilising a new LED lamp that I have (to almost spotlight the subject!). Its the first time I have done something like this so any comments appreciated.

They were shot with D3100 with standard 18-55mm lens and using a tripod with remote shutter.

I would be grateful for your comments on if this kind of thing works and how to improve for the future.
