I think you've posted these in the wrong place, because Beyond the Basics isn't a critique or photo gallery section of the forums.

One of the skills we are born with is an ability to recognize faces. That's a large part of why faces are so very important to people, yet both of these photos obscure the subjects face.

Despite what KmH said about faces, it is clear that the faces are intentionally not included in these photos. I think the first shot is superb. The light colours, offset by the bright red lips and blue stripes make for an really interesting image. The second one is nice and it's obvious that the subject is the dress rather than the girl, but it's a shame about that lens flare covering half the dress.

I'm going to side with KmH here because I find my eyes instinctively drawn to where the faces are/should be

The first one works for me!! I find the picture more interesting because I can't see all of her face. I actually think that if her eyes were in that picture it would take away from what you were going for. You did a very nice job w/ the blue strips and red lips.....=)

Agree w/ Forkie......too bad for the flare.
