some of my pictures, taken with a nikon D7000 and various lenses i have collected

#1.
this was the single most difficult shot i have ever taken... was in flight, i had a 70-300mm 3.5-4.5 lens zoomed in to 300mm and was manually focusing... every time i would get near getting it in to focus it would move and i'de have to find it in the viewfinder again try to focus, again, only to have it move... again... must have taken 40-50 pictures and this is the only one that turned out

patch of flowers in my yard... seems the bumble bee is a re-occurring theme in my pics (50mm 1.8)

28mm 2.8(Vintage 1970's), 50mm 1.8 (vintage 70's), 50mm 1.4(vintage 70's, needs repair), stack of filters, stack of extension tubes + a 2x teleconverter(vintage 70's),80-200mm 4.5 macro(vintage 70's) 135mm 3.5(vintage 70's), 70-300mm 3.5-4.5,Not shown is the 18-55mm 3.5 and my Nikon D7000, just got it and i love it!

I think you have posted WAY to many image. With as many as you have posted you are NOT going to get much if any feedback.

Pick 5 at most and number them.

You've been around for a least a little bit, so you know that CC can be slim pickins' at times. Try to not take it personally. Also, if you want CC limit your posts to 2-3 images. You should already know that CC on these forums can be harsh, so brace yourself.

1. As a macro shooter, I feel your pain on the process of getting the image, but that isn't an excuse. The image is OOF, and in need of a re-shoot.
2. Uninspiring, and no particular subject isolated.
3. The best of the set, but a bit too tight of a crop IMO. Also way too harsh, either in lighting, or in having been oversharpened in post.
4. Suffers the same fate as above, way too much oversharpening in post.
5. I've seen so many photos like this one its tough to critique it. Overall somewhat uninspired, if not busy.

Work on your subject isolation, and I think you'll see a great improvement. In the mean time, keep shooting!

as for the harshness... maybe i can find a white screen reflector to add more diffused light to the shot? or maybe use a flash? havent figured out how to drop the contrast on direct sunlight photos yet... and the only editor i have is gimp, which i dont do much with

hey i noticed from your flicker images that at times you were shooting at 1/8000 and ISO 640 for instance. The specific image I am refering to did not need such a high shutter speed because there was not action to freeze,(sunset thru trees image). You would get a nicer, less grain/noise image if you reduced the ISO to 100 and the shutter to say 1/1250 or so to keep the proper exposure. unless of course you were intentionally adding the noise for an artistic reason.

honestly i was taking pictures of bee's in one of the hives they have at this place, with the 70-300mm lens, and snapped that shot without adjusting the iso
